Beetles in the family Chrysomelidae are commonly known as leaf beetles. This is a family of over 35,000 species in more than 2,500 genera, one of the largest and most commonly encountered of all beetle families. They exist on every continent except Antarctica.
This colourful specimen was found on our recent field trip to Glen Feochan on Tuesday 26th June 2012. Our next field trip is to Pulpit Hill and Gallanach on Saturday 14th July 2012, followed by our mid-week survey on Tuesday 24th July 2012 (venue t.b.a).
