The November midweek field trip will be to Carnasserie on Tuesday 29th November, meeting in the Carnasserie Castle car park at 10 a.m. (NM839004). This is on the A816 Oban to Lochgilphead road, on the right as you go south, shortly after the Ford road end and about a mile before Kilmartin.
Our species of the month, Hazel Gloves was recently discovered in this area by Rosemary Neagle of Carnasserie Farm. Alan Hawkins has also observed this species there and will lead us to the spot. We will record the extent of the Hazel Gloves and assess the condition of the wood, which should be rich in lichens. This is a good chance to reacquaint ourselves with the Atlantic hazelwood lichens for which Argyll is famed.
Please come prepared for all weathers and bring some food. We may pay a visit to the Kilmartin Museum cafe which is open till 4 pm. There will also be a chance to explore the castle.
Please reserve your place on the SNHG forum database so that people can arrange car-sharing. Otherwise book by calling :-
