Saturday 24th March 2012 Visitors to Oban can’t help but notice the massive obelisk monument at the north end of the isle of Kerrera, guarding the entrance to the harbour. This walk is a circuit of the northern half of Kerrera and includes a visit to the monument with its fine views.
Please meet at the North Pier in Oban ready to catch the 1010 hours ferry to the island. Please do not be late as we will leave on this ferry. The next ferry is 1110 hours.
After recent rains the tracks are boggy at times, with a short, wet pathless section on the return. Therefore please wear suitable waterproof clothing and good walking boots as there is little shelter on the island.
The walk is a distance of 5.5 miles, so we should finish late afternoon. Please bring a packed lunch as there is no cafe on this part of the island.
