LNHG Field Trip to Strone Hill – 12th March 2016

Strone Hill Woods

Our next field trip is at Strone Hill, about 3 miles east of Dalmally, where there are footpaths leading through remnants of ancient oak woodland down to the river Lochy. We’ll be recording lichens, fungi and anything else that’s about.

Meet at the Forestry Commission car park which is well signposted on the right as you come from Dalmally. It’s at NN 209 271. If coming from Tyndrum it’s on your left 8 3/4 miles along the A85 towards Dalmally. Seehttp://scotland.forestry.gov.uk/visit/strone-hill for details.

The FC have told me that the site will be fully open despite the hydro-electric work taking place in the area.

Please car-share as much as possible. Lifts available from various places, please ask.

To bring: Packed lunch, hot drink, clothing for all weathers, stout waterproof footwear, camera, binoculars, illuminated hand lens, lichen ID charts (all optional)

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
