Our next field trip will be on Tue 24 Feb at Glen Nant national nature reserve near Taynuilt, an area of ancient Atlantic woodland with an exceptionally rich lichen flora. There’s a good chance of Red Squirrels, and perhaps even an early spring flower or two peeping out. Nobody won the prize for the first female Hazel flower on our last walk so there’ll be a free coffee in the Taynuilt Hotel for whoever finds one this time!
A leaflet about the reserve is at http://www.snh.gov.uk/docs/B826705.pdf and a more detailed account at http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/GlenNantReservejan07.pdf/$file/GlenNantReservejan07.pdf
Meet at 10 a.m. in the reserve car park which is reached by taking the B845 Kilchrenan road on your right as you head east out of Taynuilt. The car park is about 3 miles down this road, on your right, well signposted, at NN 019 272.
Bring packed lunch, clothing for all weathers and stout waterproof footwear. Lifts will be available from various places, please ask.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
